Meet Uptown Bar Buenos Aires.
Who said Argentinians need a visa to visit New York City? This new trendy bar in Buenos Aires teleports you instantly to a New York subway station. Located in the neighborhood of Palermo Hollywood is an underground stairway leading to a hidden subway station right in the heart of Buenos Aires.
The Experience
As a New Yorker, let me tell you that the entrance is a perfect replica of a subway station. When I sent a picture to my family, it even tricked my mom.
It’s truly a mind-blowing experience to one second be on the streets of Buenos Aires and the next to feel like you’ve traveled 5,000 miles away in the span of a second.
They really thought of every detail including the passageway in the entrance to the turnstiles to the subway car itself. Even the menus were NYC subway maps!
The Vibe
This is a perfect place for a fun night out with friends. Again, the New York style music, the countless details that were put into the design of the place creates a fun, young, big apple vibe that you’re sure to enjoy.
It’s pretty loud in here though so I wouldn’t recommend it as a place to take a first date or to catch up. It’s not ideal for chatting (at least not when we visited).
On the weekends at midnight, they turn the music up, move the tables and it turns into a dance floor. You can count on the DJ for classic New York hits as well as some Argentinian flare.
Food
I already mentioned that their menu was a subway map, but just look at it! It’s genius 🙂
Showcasing New York City’s diversity, everyone will find something they like on the menu. From sushi to hamburgers to Italian food, they have it all. They also make it easy for vegans and gluten free to see what they can eat with clear indicators on menu items.
And of course, I can’t forget the cocktails. They have modern great cocktails with lots of different flavors for everyone to enjoy as well.
That being said, when we went, we found that the food, although good, was definitely outshined by the ambiance and decor which were the stars of the show.
